Andrew Luck Leaf Superfractor Listed – Sign of Things To Come?

Andrew Luck is poised to be the most valuable rookie to hit the hobby in football since Reggie Bush. More so than Reggie Bush, especially because of the position he plays. Mel Kiper has him rated as high as John Elway, which only says that collectors are not alone in the hype. Leaf has the first cards on the market, until Press Pass is released with their exclusive autographs, and the best of the best just got posted.

Here is the auction:

Luck’s cards have been selling very well considering what they are, check it out:

The most important thing we can glean from this type of value, is that Luck’s hype is going to drive extreme value for his first licensed cards, scheduled to be released in Prestige and Bowman Signature after the draft. Panini still has sets to be released from 2011 AFTER the draft, which is completely ridiculous, but Prestige will no doubt be done around the same time.

I have already predicted that Luck’s Topps rookie card will be the most valuable base rookie card in the last decade or longer, and his base autographs could reach a ceiling of over 200 dollars. With Reggie Wayne just re-signing in Indy, Luck is now set up for a much better situation.

Although QBs taken at the top of the draft can be a huge risk as of late, collectors have a recent memory of Cam Newton and Sam Bradford blowing up during their rookie year on terrible teams. Luck has major potential to make that look like they were Rex Grossman. He also has the same potential to fall on his face.

  1. Man – I probably missed this – but I’m surprised they are allowed to use the refractor name. I figured that was copyrighted by Topps.

  2. So where do you think RGIII falls in terms of base RC value? Compared to Luck as well as compared to the last decade of players.
