2010 Panini Certified is Even More Laughable Now

I have said on numerous occasions since the previews have been released that this year’s Certified set is one of the worst in recent memory. After seeing the previews from Panini’s blog, I can honestly say that the evidence is piling up when discussing the merits of this product.

At the very minimum, the bright rainbow foil board used on every card in this product makes me delirious. I honestly cannot understand why Panini needs to ruin every set they have by using this hideous stock, as it does nothing but highlight the amateur design elements that are used for many of their product. It looks absolutely horrendous, and it makes these cards look cheap and worthless.

Basically, Im literally shocked by the appearance of some of these cards, especially the different rookie cards that Panini has destroyed with the use of ridiculously awkward pictures. I would hope that someone would have said, “hmm, maybe this concept doesnt work, I mean, this Tebow pic looks like he is in the act of pooping.” Then, to see that they couldnt even adjust the text on the side with the correct orientation, Certified is more bush league than ever before.

I understand that it wont stop collectors from buying this shit, but that doesnt surprise me. I just wish there were more cards that were created for people who value nice design work over shiny eyesores.

  1. What’s up with the double NFL logos? It’s kind of ruining the mystique when they become that prevelant.

  2. That Colt McCoy one is just a thing of beauty. The way the sticker looks like it’s about to fall off on its own. The two shit stains in the middle really bring out the finely crafted luster of the rainbow foil.
