2011 Allen & Ginter: Auto SPs Gaining Speed

Well, some of the bigger autographs in Allen and Ginter have started to hit now that the product is officially live, and boy are they gaining some traction in line with some of the most valuable cards of the entire card season. So far, we know that there are a number of gold medalists from the olympics, soccer and golf champions, and even some parts of the cast of Jackass, but one autograph has always stood above the rest.

Manny Pacquiao is almost unquestionably the most decorated and most recognized boxer of our generation, and 2011 Allen and Ginter is the first time mainstream collectors will have to pull his autograph. The first Pac-man auto has been put up and sold already at a whopping price, and more are sure to come. As this card becomes one that could be one of the more short printed autos in the set, it could go even higher down the road. See Michael Phelps from a few years ago.

We also have gotten reports of some oddball autographs that don’t seem to fit in the normal realm of card collecting, including a redemption for Dracula’s auto? That definitely arouses some curiosity.

Regardless of who it turns out to be, it wont be half as cool cards like this that feature Al Gore’s autograph. We also got word that there may be autographs of former president George W Bush in this product. Crazy stuff!

UPDATE: @brentandbecca has pulled one in his cases! http://img.ly/6bRh

As things become more clear, I will no doubt be talking more about this product.

  1. Every year A&G drives me crazy with their non sport inserts, but then again, I am oddly drawn to them. Pulling an auto of an ex-President would rock (and I don’t collect autos).

  2. I think the non baseball auto checklist is the best in years for A&G. I also think that the guy that sold the first Manny Pacquiao auto way under sold it. I think the first few should have gone for nearly a grand, but this guy may have ruined it for the others that pulled this card. The rip cards are selling for a crazy amount and I have no idea. A Josh Hamilton out of 10 sold for $475! I just want a Guy Fieri auto since Triple D is one of my favorite shows. I got the base card and relic card so far.
