2011 Topps Chrome Football is LIVE!

As has been the case with Topps products that have a retail element, cards are hitting eBay early. We are seeing a lot of great elements to the product that werent advertised, including a slew of diecut cards, and also a lot of confirmation of why Topps Chrome continues to be a fan favorite.

That isnt really the story, though, as everyone already knows. The story is that for the first time in as long as I can remember, Topps Chrome has hard signed autographs. I have called for this year after year after year, and now that its a reality, I could not be more excited. The on card signatures, from early reports and early auctions, look amazing. As the hobby product should start showing up tomorrow, so should the refractor parallels, which should be even better looking. Now that Topps looks to be instituting a parallel structure more like Bowman Chrome in baseball, these cards will be even more sought after than they normally are.

On top of that, with recent releases from Panini falling flat on their hideously designed faces, its only more apparent how far Topps is moving ahead. Panini was already a good 10 laps down in this race, but Chrome could easily be the nail in their 2011 calendar’s coffin.

Here are some of the big auctions posted so far, including the first Cam Newton auto:

Cam Newton Base Autograph – WHY, why would they do a seven day auction on these? Makes ZERO sense.

DeMarco Murray Base Autograph

Colin Kaepernick Base Autograph

Jake Locker Black Refractor

  1. Very pumped up about Chrome. My case should be in at the latest on Thursday. Fill me in on the 7 day auction not making any sense? Is less days better for ebay auctions?

  2. Topps Chrome does look awesome. My only complaint is the number of combine photos used other then that thou its great. I am a little mad that one of the autographs I was looking forward to picking up of Andy Dalton is a damn sticker. Its a shame they couldn’t get them all on card. I’m still holding out hope A.J. Green will be an on card autograph.

  3. Already picked up my miller base auto. And we’ll see with the prices whether I try to build the rainbow to match my finest one!!

  4. Just busted 4 blasters from Target. WOW!

2 base Cam’s, 1 Cam Finest Freshman, 1 Cam Bowman Chrome, a Julio Jones SP variation, a Demarco Murray blue ref /199, and a TON of other refractors (4 purple, 3 blue)

One pack in each box was either all refractors, all rookies or all inserts. I’ve never seen that before.

  5. I could be wrong, but it seems like you get a greater number of refractors in the blasters than you do in the hobby boxes. At least, that’s how it has worked out for me over the past two years.

  6. 100% agree. The 8 retail blasters I busted seem to give up 10-12 refractors per box on average (reg, x, purple, blue or black).

That being said, I think Topps is really messing w/ us this year, as one of my buddies busted a blaster hot box. He pulled 32 refractors! Has any one else heard of this? I had a couple of blasters give 2 refractors/pack, but an entire box is rediculous.
