First Harper Auto Hits – What Does This Mean For the Rest?

The first Bryce Harper 2011 Bowman auto has been posted on eBay, and its already at a price that is eerily reminiscent of when Strasburg’s autos went live out of 2010 Bowman. The funny thing is, the card isnt even live, its a redemption, something that should not be the case for the ones that will come out of the hobby boxes when they hit shelves next week. Although its yet to be seen whether all will be redemptions, you would expect the retail ones to match the hobby ones, but it doesnt look like this is the case this time.

In terms of the Strasburg/Harper similarities, its one situation that everyone better get used to pretty quickly. The comparison will be made between the two all season, and its one that has merit because of the sheer ridiculousness of the prices associated with the unproven production of both players. Prospecting itself is based on buying these unproven prospects at LOW prices and selling them at high prices when they start producing. Once you see the prices that these cards will bring, its easy to see that this is the complete opposite of prospecting. I have posted three straight articles regarding this craziness, and its like no one even gets that this situation ended with EPIC FAILURE last time around. You would think that the people would learn, maybe wait a little bit, and purchase once things settle down. Nope, not the case.

Remember, these autos should be live next week, so I would think that these prices should be higher when the first hobby auto hits. Just thought I would mention this auction because of how unusual the situation has turned out to be.

  2. I just want to immediately reply to my previous post and give the A-OK! for everybody ‘prospecting’ Bryce Harper to just go ahead and copy/paste that to all the message boards. Figured I’d save you the trouble and from wasting time you could be using to snipe Brice Harper autos for the price of small vehichles. Awesome.

  3. Agreed, agreed, and agreed. Prices will be driven so high that when he ends up not being the next Albert Pujols, prices won’t regain the prominence they were today. Exactly like Strasburg.
