2010 Panini Limited Is Up To Old Tricks

As I was writing the post for 2010 Unrivaled, a few cards popped up for 2010 Limited as well. From what I have seen on Panini’s video, plus these cards on here, we are looking at a complete and utter be-foilboarded failure of concept and design. Each of the cards presents a new reason to hate this recent release, with most just making me hope that this is just a joke and that the real limited will be coming later.

Honestly, this product has been a favorite of mine for a few years now, despite all the ridiculous amounts of foil, and though the rainbow looks to be better for Disney Princess cards, the designs have worked well with a few GLARING exceptions.

So far this year, all we have seen is Triple Threads level box hit rookie patches, that would look like books on a shelf if turned sideways, and horrendous floating swatch cards that provide further evidence that Panini is too lazy and too cheap to spend the time to fill out a set properly with complete looking cards. Instead we have five thousand cards with five billion parallels, most that look like someone just peeled off the sticker and hoped it would still pass the test.

It’s a complete slap in the face, mainly because Panini had EVERY reason to blow this year’s calendar out of the water in the absence of Upper Deck’s top notch design, but instead chose to sit lazily on their ass like bums.

Here is what is up so far:

Jimmy Clausen Patch Auto /199 – See what I mean about the books on a shelf? Turn it sideways. Someone mentioned this observation and I cant stop seeing it now.

Taylor Price Patch Auto /199

Jahvid Best Patch Auto /25 – More of these goofy ass smiling player pictures that should never be on a card.

Devery Henderson Patch Auto /10 – The way the RC pictures SHOULD have looked.

CJ Spiller Patch /10 – Incomplete card version 1.0

Gerald McCoy Jersey /100 – Incomplete card version 2.0

Sam Bradford Jersey /100 – Incomplete card version 3.0

None of those bright orange Legends cards have shown up yet, but I am going to keep an eye out. Holy crap, this stuff looks worse than Certified, and that takes talent like we have never seen before. Then when you add in the sheer number of redemptions that are SURE to litter your box breaks like they did in Certified, I question why people would even waste their time. You might as well just spend 3 bucks on the two crap jerseys you will get and spend 50 on one of the box hits from someone else’s break. It will save you the heartbreak all around. Limited is just a bunch of fucking bush league bullshit.

  1. The henderson looks really good but the rest is bad espicially the RPA’s.

  2. Honestly, who does panini think their fooling with limited? I hate this years limited and will never get it. Last years prime pairings dual autos were great. So were the rookie patch autos.

  3. the incomplete card crap pisses me off to no end. I love parallels but come on! I hate to say it but this makes refractor rainbows look like pure gold.

  4. Your dead on dude. This is really bad. Uninspired, looks like the work of amateurs. Wow!!! Reminds me of when I first saw Chicle. I was like, “Really? High school kids could sketch this crap.” I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes. This is right up there on the disappointment scale. I guess thats the great thing about card collecting though, I can go back to collecting better product, and ignore this stuff.
