Back in 2007 around this time, we were at a very similar position in terms of a team making a run at it. The New England Patriots were 10-0, and would go on to a perfect season of 16-0 after winning their final 6. At the same time, Tom Brady was setting a record for TD passes in a season, and his cards were going absolutely crazy go nuts.

Similar to the 2007 season, Aaron Rodgers is leading his team to what could be the second perfect season in less than 5 years. Much like Brady, he is well on his way to Brady’s TD pass record, and there is little that stands in his way to making his season one for the ages. I said earlier this year that he was the most valuable active player signature in the hobby, and the gap is only widening further now that he is having such an amazing season.

His cards are so valuable, that a base rookie out of a pack that cost 3 dollars now goes for more than any other in the history of the brand. His signature is now worth close to 300 dollars on a non-rookie card, and his top rookies are selling for over three grand. Its absolutely insane how valuable he is at this point.

After another big win this past sunday, its clear that the Packers are the team to beat come february. Not only will they win their division without competition, but they may coast all the way to the Super Bowl if there are no major injuries that hold them back. Rodgers will see the bulk of the hobby value as the leader of the team, and after seeing him dismantle team after team, he deserves the credit.

I have often speculated that autographs will never be about rarity any longer, mainly due to the amount each rookie and star player now has in every product. However, because Rodgers never signed very much, it will definitely be about rarity. Rarity only helps when you are now the best player in the entire league.
